The addition and renovation to the Fay Jones School of Architecture in Vol Walker Hall at the University of Arkansas is a complex but resolute hybrid of a beautifully restored historical building (65,000 SF), and a modern addition and insertion (37,000 SF).
Students learn to create environments that meet diverse human needs and desires. This school is named for Fay Jones, an internationally renowned architect, who chose to build his career in his native Arkansas. He taught for 35 years, and also served as the first dean of the school.

The Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design was ranked 19th in the nation overall – and eighth among public universities – for 2013 in the annual survey of “America’s Best Architecture and Design Schools" published in the November/December 2012 issue of DesignIntelligence.
The Steven L. Anderson Design Center at the University of Arkansas by Marlon Blackwell Architects opened in 2013 as an expanded home for the Fay Jones School of Architecture, bringing the school’s architecture, landscape, and interior design programs together under one roof for the first time.
