2 Φεβ 2016 · I've got windows 10 and have been using outlook express to get mail for years - until yesterday. After having some problems with my computer, I did a complete restart, reinstalled windows and found that the outlook express icon had gone and now I can't find any evidence of it anywhere.
Outlook Express was not installed on any Win10 PC, its not compatible. A win10 PC has the Mail app, and if you have a version of the MS Office suite, you may have MS Outlook
Open the message store back up and change the file extension from .bak to .dbx. Close the message store and open OE. The messages should now be back in the folder. If the messages are successfully restored, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the Desktop.
Does classic Outlook stop running or refuse to start? If you can't open Outlook, or Outlook disappears or crashes, one of your add-ins may be to blame or you may need to update Outlook. You might need to set Windows Update to automatically download and install recommended updates.
