Propagation Delay and Delay Skew. Propagation delay in backbone cables shall meet the requirements of propagation delay in horizontal cables. Similarly, delay skew in all sequential 4 pair groups, eg: pairs 1-4, shall meet the same requirements as horizontal cable delay skew.

The local loop, which connects a telephone to a local exchange is a two-wire (2W) circuit that carries the signals in both transmission directions. Even asymmetrical digital subscriber lines (ADSLs) use this same 2W local. To connect a 2W local loop to a 4W network a circuit called a 2W/ 4W hybrid is needed.
TELEPHONE CABLING TECHNOLOGY. Standard telephone installations normally require ONE PAIR for each telephone, so a cable is selected to suit the job ex. 22 phones use 30 pair with some spare pairs for additional telephones which may be added.
Why the need for Grounding and Bonding • Equipment Protection • Satisfy Warranty Requirement • System Performance • Service Protection • Personnel Safety (code requirement – NEC/CSA/BS/IEC)
Bonding STP and UTP telecommunications systems. Not only is grounding and bonding important for the protection of the people and property, proper bonding of the telecommunications system per the current TIA-607-B standard is also vital to ensure reliable data transmission performance.
The sections are joined together with electrical joints, called splices, at the telephone poles for aerial cables and at a manhole for underground cables. The cable pairs are bundled together in. cable binder group. Figure 2–4(b) shows the serving area boundary in more detail.
