To identify patients with partial-thickness distal bicep tendon tears and determine (1) patient characteristics and treatment strategies, (2) long-term outcomes, and (3) any identifiable risk factors for progression to surgery or complete tear.

When the diagnosis of a distal biceps tendon tear is obvious on examination, your doctor may not order an ultrasound or MRI scan. Treatment Surgery to reattach the tendon to the bone is necessary to regain full arm strength and function.
The indications for operative intervention are symptomatic partial tears of the distal biceps affecting >50% of the biceps tendon thickness 18 and failure of non-operative treatment for partial tears of <50% of the tendon thickness.
