Youth Shelter. Pathfinders’ Youth Shelter is open 365 days a year and provides emergency short-term shelter for adolescents aged 11-17, plus crisis counseling services for youth aged 18-21. We operate one of only two state-licensed youth shelters serving Milwaukee, representing half of the available beds in the city for youth.

Today, Pathfinders represents one of Wisconsin’s oldest and most effective nonprofit organizations serving youth in crisis. Our low-barrier, innovative services support youth to find safety, hope and healing. Pathfinders serves about 7,000 youth each year.
Pathfinders brings safety, hope and healing to youth in crisis in the Greater Milwaukee area. Our youth are facing interconnected issues such as homelessness, sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking, mental health challenges and many other forms of trauma.
20 Φεβ 2020 · DeShanda Williams is the director of homeless and runaway services at Pathfinders Milwaukee, which offers services for youths in crisis. She says that the city’s resources are often targeted at specific populations — like pregnant teens — which can leave other youths without reliable shelter.
• Within 72 hours of experiencing homelessness, 1 in 3 youth will trade sex to meet their basic needs (food, shelter, etc.). • 21% of homeless young women and 10% of homeless young men had been trafficked for sex, with even higher rates among LGBTQ+ youth. • Milwaukee is known as a national hub for human trafficking.
