In this chapter, John the Apostle recounts his supernatural encounter with Christ, where he receives a directive to write to the seven churches of Asia and is given a foretaste of the divine revelations that are yet to unfold.
John has actually suffered some of this bullying first hand. He is currently living on an island called Patmos. This is either because he was banished for being a Christian or he's gone into hiding.

Jesus appears clothed in a robe, with hair like white wool, eyes like flames of fire, and a voice like rushing waters.
The Book of Revelation was revealed to the Apostle John on an island called Patmos. He was banished there for his testimony of Jesus. This study is mainly to do with Verses 9-11 of Revelation 1, and is bringing together the different Bible translations and descriptions of Patmos and of John being in the Spirit on the Lord’s day.
4 Απρ 2024 · In Revelation 1, Jesus is not only revealed as our great High Priest, but as God Himself. John uses an epanados (a repetition of sentences in inverse order) to identify Jesus Christ as the great I AM.
19 Ιουν 2024 · The Cave of the Apocalypse St. John, known in the Bible as the “disciple Jesus loved,” adopted this very cave as his home after his exile by the Roman emperor Domitian. Consequently, the cave became the center of his great revelation, which he dictated to his follower Prohorus.
John tells us that "he was in the Spirit on the Lord's day," (1:10) when he first starts to see all this weird stuff. And what are John's visions really? Wishful thinking (see: revenge fantasy)?
