The Foundations of Reading test for North Carolina assesses proficiency in and depth of understanding of the subjects of reading and writing development. The test reflects scientifically based reading research and is aligned with the Common Core State Standards.
Pearson. Pearson offers a variety of tests for a general curriculum. There are four tests, the Foundations of Reading, Multi-subjects Subtest, Mathematics subtest, and the General Curriculum Multi-subjects & Math subtests, that can be taken.
Candidates in North Carolina may take and pass the General Curriculum Mathematics subtest to qualify for a North Carolina license. Note that General Curriculum is a nationally available test that also includes a Multi-Subject subtest, which is not required for certification in North Carolina.

Elementary Education and Special Education – General Curriculum candidates can elect to take either the Praxis Elementary Education CKT Mathematics test (7813) or the Pearson General Curriculum Mathematics subtest or to satisfy the mathematics component of their licensure testing requirements.
