22 Ιουν 2023 · LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 22, 2023) — On June 20, health care providers and donors cut the ribbon on the new Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) at Kentucky Children’s Hospital (KCH). The inpatient space is designed to meet the unique needs of children and adolescents who would benefit from more intensive mental and behavioral health interventions.
We have a partial hospitalization program for school-aged children and an inpatient specialty program for children and adolescents who have complex treatment needs, such as intellectual or developmental disabilities accompanied by acute behavioral and psychiatric symptoms.
Kentucky Children's Hospital (KCH) is a comprehensive, multispecialty pediatric health care center providing compassionate inpatient and outpatient care to children in the Commonwealth.
1 Ιουλ 2021 · OBJECTIVES. We sought to evaluate trends in pediatric inpatient unit capacity and access and to measure pediatric inpatient unit closures across the United States. METHODS. We performed a retrospective study of 4720 US hospitals using the 2008–2018 American Hospital Association survey.
The inpatient unit is a group environment where participation in treatment is actively encouraged. A typical treatment day includes participation in group therapy, symptom management groups, school, individual psychotherapy, groups with Therapeutic Recreation, a psychiatric assessment, and intervention.

Our objective for this article is to describe the challenges, opportunities, and potential solutions to maintaining high-quality care for hospitalized children in community hospitals.
