There are two ways for you to learn a pet ability: some abilities you can learn from a pet trainer in town, and some abilities you learn from taming creatures that already know the ability. Learned from wild creatures: Bite. Charge. Claw. Cower. Dash. Dive. Furious Howl. Lightning Breath. Prowl. Scorpid Poison. Screech. Shell Shield. Thunderstomp.
The following table cross-references spec and core family abilities for each family. Families each have one uniquely-named core ability, belonging to one of 7 ability types (left column). Each family also gains two abilities from the specialization to which it belongs (top row).
In comparison to the original Classic, there are six new pet abilities: Avoidance, Cobra Reflexes, Fire Breath, Gore, Poison Spit, and Warp. In original BC, Avoidance and Cobra Reflexes were added later (Patch 2.1) but will be available from the start in BC Classic.
