15 Φεβ 2023 · If your character is wearing heavy armor, their primary goal is maximizing armor class at the expense of everything else. In that case, plate armor is your best best by far. With a base armor class of 18, this option is the highest possible armor class without other modifiers.
Dwarven Plate Armor. Armor (plate), very rare. While wearing this armor, you gain a +2 bonus to Armor Class. In addition, if an effect moves you against your will along the ground, you can take a Reaction to reduce the distance you are moved by up to 10 feet. 6 Δεκ 2018 · The only official element that would limit acquisition of plate armor would be its exorbitant cost. Xanathar's Guide to Everything (page 135) suggests that a party should have seven rolls on the Challenge 0-4 treasure hoard table and 18 rolls on the 5-10 table as it levels up.
Enemies that a 3-5th level character meets will have between +3 and +6 to hit; a 5e troll (CR 5) has +7, with 3 attacks averaging ~10 damage. It should hit with 40% of those vs AC20. So, the fighter will take 12 damage per round, or the troll can grapple or shove him away and attack someone else.
