The Polar Power Output Sensor system works by measuring two key factors: • Chain Tension - Power Output Sensor main unit on the rear stay measures the tension of the chain from the vibrations of the chain as it passes over the sensor. • Chain Speed - Chain Speed Sensor on the rear derraileur measures the speed of the chain magnetically.
The Polar Power Output Sensor measures pedalling power, left/ right balance (LRB describes the share of power output of left and right as a percentage), pedalling index (PI describes how evenly power output was produced during a cycle round), speed, cadence and distance when cycling.
