11 Αυγ 2022 · This was due to an ongoing dispute between King Features Syndicate (the copyright owners of Popeye and the comics he originated from) and United Artists (who owned the copyrights to the Popeye shorts at the time) regarding who was the true copyright owner of the shorts in terms of releasing them officially to home video.
