The Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential authorizes any of the following specializations: school counseling, school social work, school psychology, and the additional authorization of child welfare and attendance services.
The Post-Master Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC), designed for professionals with an MSW, qualifies you for certification with the state of California as a school social worker. This 10-credit program includes four units of externship done in a school setting.
To complete the Pupil Personnel Services Credential-Only Program, candidates must demonstrate knowledge and skills in the following California CTC PPS School Counseling Program Standards: Foundations of School Counseling Professional Standards; Professionalism, Ethics, and Legal Mandates; Student Academic Development
The Department of Social Welfare offers the Pupil Personnel Services credential with specializations in School Social Work with an added authorization in Child Welfare and Attendance. The credential program is part of the Masters in Social Welfare and incorporates foundation knowledge and skill for practice at all intervention levels.
The following state requirements are mandated for anyone applying for a credential in a California public school: Fingerprinting (application for character and identification clearance). This must be done before starting to work in any California public school.
1 Οκτ 2024 · As a Post MSW student through CalState Apply. Social workers who already hold an MS degree may enroll in the School Social Work Specialization program in order to meet eligibility for the PPS Credential as required by the State.
30 Νοε 2020 · PPS credentialed seeking candidates must successfully complete 600 clock hours of school-based field experience. Candidates pursuing this credential are required to have: PPSC/ SSW Specialization Field Requirements: 450 clock hours in a school-based setting supervised by a PPS credentialed holder.
