Two 4-year terms, except after succeeding to the Presidency and serving more than two years, in which case only one subsequent four-year term is permitted. The eligibility of former term-limited presidents is unclear (see Twenty-second Amendment). No directly set terms; appointed by the Supreme Leader.
In January 1991, the Constitution was amended to allow for a President elected by the citizens of Singapore. The elected President will hold office for a fixed term of six years. There are no term limits to the presidency. The elected presidency is a major constitutional and political change.
If the office of President becomes vacant before the incumbent's term expires, a poll for an election must be held within six months. In other cases, an election can take place any time from three months before the expiry of the incumbent's term of office.
The Presidential election has to be conducted as follows: within 6 months after the office of the President becomes vacant prior to the expiration of the term of office of the incumbent; or not more than 3 months before the date of expiration of the term of office of the incumbent.
The next Presidential election must be conducted not more than 3 months before her term expires: between 13 June and 13 September 2023. The 2017 election was, for the first time, reserved for Malay candidates. This year’s will be open to all races. Candidates cannot be affiliated to any political party on the date of nomination.

Under both the public sector service requirement and private sector service requirement: period means continuous period.
