The resonance of a proton with n equivalent protons on the adjacent carbon will be “split” into n + 1 peaks with a coupling constant J . Coupling constant: distance between peaks of a split pattern; expressed
NMR is a branch of spectroscopy and so it describes the nature of the energy levels of the material system and transitions induced between them through absorption or emission of electromagnetic radiation.
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance. NMR is based on the behavior of a sample placed in an electromagnet and irradiated with radiofrequency waves: 60 – 900 MHz (l ≈ 0.5 m) The magnet is typically large, strong, $$$, and delivers a stable, uniform field – required for the best NMR data.
24 Ιουλ 2019 · On this page we are focusing on the magnetic behaviour of hydrogen nuclei - hence the term proton NMR or 1 H-NMR. 1 H NMR spectroscopy is used more often than 13 C NMR, partly because proton spectra are much easier to obtain than carbon spectra.
24 Ιουλ 2019 · Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) is a nuceli (Nuclear) specific spectroscopy that has far reaching applications throughout the physical sciences and industry. NMR uses a large magnet (Magnetic) to probe the intrinsic spin properties of atomic nuclei.

An NMR spectrum is the weighted average of the conformations. For example: Cyclohexane gives a single peak for its H atoms in NMR. Half of the time a single proton is axial and half of the time it is equatorial. The observed chemical shift is half way between the axial chemical shift and the equatorial chemical shift.
