Psalm 55 is a heartfelt plea from an individual who feels betrayed and overwhelmed. Traditionally believed to have been written by David, it captures the deep pain of betrayal by a close friend and articulates a fervent prayer for deliverance from enemies.
Psalm chapter 55. 1 Give ear to my prayer, O God, and hide not yourself from my plea for mercy! 2 Attend to me, and answer me; I am restless in my complaint and I moan, 3 because of the noise of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked.
Verse of the Day. David is the author of Psalm 55, and he bemoans the shocking fact that his own familiar friend, whom he loved and trusted, betrayed him. A trusted companion, with whom David had enjoyed hours of sweet fellowship turned on him and was unimaginably disloyal.
