The beaches of Porto are those in the district Foz do Douro, The rest of the nearby beaches belong either to Matosinhos or Vila Nova de Gaia, the two neighboring municipalities. It is very easy to get there from downtown Porto using your car or by public transport, here we tell you how.
Whilst Porto may not be home to any of the very best of these beaches there are a few good options just a tram ride away from the city centre. Probably the most easy to access are the string of rock and sand beaches in Foz where you will be spoilt for choice of beachfront cafe.

Heading north, in the direction of Matosinhos, from Felgueiras Lighthouse, Ourigo Beach is the second one that you will come to after Carneiros Beach. An all round very pleasant area.
