The small fish trap can be used to obtain either sardines in salt water or bitterlings in fresh water. If you use the trap on its own you have a 15% chance to catch a fish but if you put an earthworm in the trap you will have a 85% chance to catch a fish.

8 Δεκ 2014 · Yeah, traps and snares have to be "placed". You can't just drop them from your inventory, that won't activate them. Using a fish trap is generally pretty easy (has to be done on the coast, by the way), but rabbit snares are not quite so easy.
I know the Fish Traps catch depends on whether it's fresh water or salt water, but does the Snare differ? Is it if you use fruit or worms? When the Snare catches something, how long until it despawns?

But for the life of me, I have never got either of these two fish traps to work. (Yes, I'm aware of the 10-20 min wait time, the needed earthworm as bait, and that you have to be far from it for it to work.)
