Ragnar was so truly disappointed and disgusted with Aslaug when she said they may never see Bjorn again. It was nice for him to show his deep love for his son, after busting his balls for his decisions the rest of the episode upon waking up.
Recap. The episode opens with Ragnar, wounded and near-death, having a fever dream of walking towards the welcoming open gates of Valhalla, only to see them close before him. The scene is intercut with his loving wife Aslaug asking the Seer if a woman would rule Kattegat should King Ragnar die.
It does seem like it would have made more sense to the episode if Floki had left the runes and then Ragnar had his dream vision of the gates of Valhalla, since one of these runes means "dreams, fantasies."
