3 Νοε 2023 · Training a show lamb is a rewarding experience, but it requires a lot of patience, dedication and hard work. To ensure that your lamb is show ring ready, it’s essential to start training them from day one. Here are some simple tips and tricks to improve your show lamb training.
Safely catching your lamb. There are three big mistakes you can make when training your lamb. The first one is chasing them around to try to catch them. We’ve all been there, but this should never happen, as chasing your lambs will instill fear in the animal.
Modern showmanship techniques are to: show lambs slick sheared or in very short fleece; show standing-up, with the lamb braced at all times; and show the lamb from both the left and right side. The more traditional style, which is still seen around the PNW, is to show a lamb in a 60-90 day fleece.

The lambs each have a flat-backed bucket hanging in their pen secured with a snap-on hook. In the summer water buckets get refilled with fresh water at least three times a day.
