Rammed earth construction is the process of ramming a mixture of natural aggregates, like gravel, sand, silt and clay into a formwork to create solid walls. When the earth is dry the formwork is removed to reveal striking monolithic walls.
These guidelines for rammed earth cover general design considerations, material properties, testing and selection, engineering design, wall construction, construction details, and maintenance and repair procedures.
