15 Ιουν 2023 · We Are Image-Bearers of God. In the New Testament, the teaching of Jesus indicates the value of human beings implicit in their being God's image-bearers (Matt 6:26; 12:12). More important, Jesus himself perfectly images God in his life and ministry as he relates to God, people, and nature.
The sentiment thus becomes: “God makes His sun rise on stubborn and generous alike, and His rain fall on just and unjust”. A similar thought in Seneca, De benif. vi. 26: “Si deos imitaris, da et ingratis beneficia, nam et sceleratis sol oritur, et piratis patent maria”.
God treats all men alike whether good or bad, gives rain to the good and bad people, causes his sun to shine on good and bad people; God isn't partial in these things. So be like your Father which is in heaven.
