Rebus is a Scottish crime drama television series based on the Inspector Rebus novels by Sir Ian Rankin, and starring Richard Rankin in the titular role. The episodes are written by Gregory Burke, directed by Niall MacCormick and Fiona Walton. Burke and Ian Rankin also serve as executive producers.

Hard-up Michael Rebus's rash act in Fife has bloody consequences for his brother John, who faces a fatal confrontation. Meanwhile, Siobhan finds out who stopped the street attack, and John confesses to contact with criminal Cafferty.
Rebus has to cope with a backdrop of gun running, jailbreaks, left- and right-wing extremists, nationalists and other splinter groups who are spouting racist philosophies, and imported white-power fanatics who are perpetrating hate crimes.
