The Red Seal Program, formally known as the Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Program, is a program that sets common standards to assess the skills of tradespeople across Canada. Industry is heavily involved in developing the national standard for each trade.
Visit the official apprenticeship and certification website of your province or territory. Complete and submit the appropriate Red Seal Examination application form or contact your provincial or territorial apprenticeship office for more information.
Red Seal certified workers can work anywhere in Canada where their occupation is designated. New Brunswick recognizes 50 occupations that are part of the Interprovincial Standards Program. To obtain information on a Red Seal endorsement on your Certificate of Qualification, contact an apprenticeship office in your region.
Under the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA), a worker holding certification in a regulated trade has access to interprovincial labour mobility, whether or not the worker’s certification bears a Red Seal endorsement.
