You may be able to use rEFInd's bootable CD or USB flash drive image to use rEFInd to boot an OS that's been installed but rendered inoperable because of changes to your boot order. You can then use efibootmgr , bless , or some other tool to restore rEFInd as the default boot program.

Many casual users will be able to use rEFInd without making changes to its settings; in its default configuration, the boot manager automatically detects all the EFI boot loader programs you have on your EFI System Partition (ESP) (or your macOS boot partition, in the case of Macs) in conventional locations and displays icons for them.
The easiest way of installing rEFInd is generally to use the install.sh. script; however, you must be running under Linux or OS X to do this.

macOS Setup. Mount your system's EFI. Move OpenCore's BOOTx64.efi to EFI/OC/ Rename refind_x64.efi to BOOTx64.efi. Move rEFInd's BOOTx64.efi to EFI/BOOT. Add the folders drivers_x64, tools_x64 and icons to EFI/BOOT. Grab refind.conf-sample and add it to EFI/BOOT. Rename refind.conf-sample to refind.conf.
