All students who wish to transfer from a CUNY associate program to a CUNY bachelor’s program must meet the University’s proficiency requirements in English and mathematics to be admitted. Students may meet these requirements via the SAT, ACT, New York State Regents, or the proficiency index.
Applicants may establish proficiency in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, meeting benchmark scores on the SAT, ACT, and New York State Regents exams. Applicants who do not meet benchmark scores will be assessed using a proficiency index to determine English and math course placement.
SAT/ACT Test Optional Policy. CUNY has revised its testing policy to test optional effective fall 2023 through spring 2025. First-year applicants can choose whether to submit SAT or ACT exam scores as part of their application.
Focus on a well-rounded application that highlights your strengths, achievements, and interests, and prioritize standardized testing and GPA over Regents exams when applying to schools outside of New York state.
