Article 3(1) of Rome I Regulation adopts the widely-accepted prin-ciple of freedom of choice of the law applicable to an international contract. This is in conformity with the scope of application of the Regulation, which concerns “situations involving a conflict of laws” (Article 1(1)).
Todavia, resulta do artigo 6.°, n.° 2, do Regulamento Roma I que a escolha da lei aplicável não prejudica a aplicação das disposições imperativas previstas pela lei do país onde residem os consumidores cujos interesses são defendidos através desta ação.
