24 Ιουλ 2008 · Whereas no substantial change is intended as compared with Article 3(3) of the 1980 Convention on the Law Applicable to Contractual Obligations (7) (the Rome Convention), the wording of this Regulation is aligned as far as possible with Article 14 of Regulation (EC) No 864/2007.

Article 3(1) of Rome I Regulation adopts the widely-accepted prin-ciple of freedom of choice of the law applicable to an international contract. This is in conformity with the scope of application of the Regulation, which concerns “situations involving a conflict of laws” (Article 1(1)).
