Course Requirements. The bachelor of arts with a major in archaeology is an interdepartmental program offered by the Department of Anthropology in cooperation with the Department of Arts and Art History and the Department of Classical and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations.
At VCU, archaeology courses expose students to the methods and theories of archaeology as commonly practiced. In all archaeology courses, students are expected to participate actively in research activities.

Monticello's Department of Archaeology and the University of Virginia offer a six-week archaeological field school at Monticello. The field school provides six credits through the University of Virginia's College of Arts and Sciences.
