Jesus is the main focus of the book and he is the key that unlocks its true meaning. Revelation begins and concluded with Jesus. The Second Coming of Jesus is the climax of the book.

Revelation is certainly different from other books of the New Testament. It is also very different from any kind of writing that is familiar to most people today. Unfortunately, this has caused some people to shy away from the book; or on the other hand, to misuse it in propagating wild and fanciful theories.
How we understand the basic meaning and “story” of Revelation hinges on what meaning we assign to the various symbols used in Revelation. But God did not bother to supply us with a key that explicitly indicates the meaning of each and every symbol.

The word “revelation,” therefore, has a much deeper meaning than only of showing what will happen. The Bible uses the word to describe God’s intervention in man’s thinking, logic, and understanding.
“Revelation” (ἀποκάλυψις) means “disclose,” “unveil,” “reveal.” Subjective and objective genitive: Christ is revealed and He reveals things to come. Normal reading and literal interpretation. Symbols have literal antecedents, many of which are found in writings of the prophets.
