Every September, the International Rhino Foundation (IRF) publishes our signature report, State of the Rhino, which documents current population estimates and trends, where available, as well as key challenges and conservation developments for the five surviving rhino species in Africa and Asia.
30 Νοε 2022 · There are five species of rhino. Africa is home to the White and Black Rhino. The remaining three – the Sumatran, Javan and Indian – exist in Asia. Some of these species have dangerously low population levels. The Sumatran and the Javan Rhino can now only be found in Indonesia.

In some locations, where there is political instability or war, poachers have found it much easier to kill rhinos and work with criminal gangs who then illegally trade the horn. Rhinos are threatened by poaching, habitat loss and political conflict.
