Madison County is a county located in the central part of the U.S. state of Kentucky. At the 2020 census, its population was 92,701. [1] Its county seat is Richmond. [2] The county is named for Virginia statesman James Madison, who later became the fourth President of the United States. [3]
Richmond is located in Madison County in the Bluegrass region of the state. The Blue Grass Army Depot lies to the southeast of the city. The city is served by Interstate 75, U. S. Routes 25 and 421, and Kentucky Routes 52, 169 and 388. [12] I-75 runs to the west of downtown, with access from exits 83, 87, and 90.
