Grand Riviera Theatre. The Grand Riviera stood at Grand River Avenue and Riviera Street, near Joy Road. The theater was designed by John Eberson in the atmospheric style, which whisked moviegoers away to another world, in this case an old Roman garden under a moonlit sky.
The Riviera Theatre, or Grand Riviera Theatre, as it was first called when it was opened on August 24, 1925, was designed by John Eberson. The Grand Riviera Theater was a movie palace theater located at 9222 Grand River Avenue in western Detroit, Michigan. It took its name from Grand River Avenue.
