Identify two structural differences between DNA and RNA. DNA has a double stranded structure while RNA is single stranded. DNA is longer while RNA is shorter. Suppose you are performing an experiment in which you must use heat to denature a double helix and create two single stranded pieces.
• DNA nucleotides are linked by covalent phosphodiester bonds (between the 5’-phosphate and 3’-hydroxyl of two nucleotides) to form a long polynucleotide strand • Two strands join together via complementary base pairing (G pairs with C via 3 H bonds, A pairs with T via 2 H bonds)
20 Απρ 2022 · Make sure you can name the different components of a DNA molecule (sugar-phosphate backbone, nucleotide, complementary base pairs, phosphodiester bonds, hydrogen bonds) and make sure you are able to locate these on a diagram.
In the base-pairs, C (cytosine) can only pair with G (guanine), and A (adenine) can only bond with T (thymine). In RNA, uracil (U) replaces thymine (T). -DNA carries the genetic information of the cell to daughter cells during reproduction.
Step 1. = Initiation where small ribosome subunit binds to start codon of mRNA, the initiator tRNA binds complimentary to the mRNA's start codon and then the large ribosomal subunit binds to the complex such that the initiator tRNA is located in the P site of the ribosome.
