As you stroll through the train yard you will see: a Norfolk & Western Railway caboose built in 1917. A Pennsylvania Railroad Post Office car built in 1908. A 1936 yellow Plymouth locomotive.
Track-level views reveal intricate details of the display, where over 300 rail cars and 50 locomotives steam past anxious passengers waiting to board while cars sit with snow to their hubcaps and the perfect trees strapped to their roofs.
With no trains running on these rails, kids can be free to run and explore this living history museum. It’s fun watching kids look around and get so excited about the various trains. A word of caution: wear sneakers and socks — and pants, if possible.
