Though a reflection does preserve distance and therefore can be classified as an isometry, a reflection changes the orientation of the shape and is therefore classified as an opposite isometry. You can see the change in orientation by the order of the letters on the image vs the preimage.
15 Ιουν 2022 · In geometry, a transformation is an operation that moves, flips, or changes a shape to create a new shape. A reflection is an example of a transformation that takes a shape (called the preimage) and flips it across a line (called the line of reflection) to create a new shape (called the image).
21 Ιαν 2020 · That’s what today’s geometry lesson is all about. You’re going to learn how to find the line of reflection, graph a reflection in a coordinate plane, and so much more. So let’s get started!
In geometry, a reflection is a rigid transformation in which an object is mirrored across a line or plane. When an object is reflected across a line (or plane) of reflection, the size and shape of the object does not change, only its configuration; the objects are therefore congruent before and after the transformation.

When you reflect a point in the origin, both the x- coordinate and the y -coordinate are negated (their signs are changed). In a point reflection in the origin, the image of the point (x,y) is the point (-x,-y). A point reflection creates a figure that is congruent to the original figure.
