The IS-2 (Russian: ИС-2, sometimes romanized as JS-2 [note 1]) is a Soviet heavy tank, the second of the IS tank series named after the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. It was developed and saw combat during World War II and saw service in other Soviet allied countries after the war.

Soviet/Russian army formations entered service in 1995, although they originated in WW2. The IS-2 was eventually replaced by the upgraded IS-3 series, which continued to address tanks based on World War II operations. This version features a new round cast turret that is overall lower.

The JS-2 Heavy Tank, which was also known as the Victory Tank, was an upgraded version of the JS-1, with a larger main gun. Production of the JS-2 began at the end of December 1943. By the beginning of 1944, about 100 JS-2s were in service.
