The Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC Charger can be used as a power supply or battery charger. In charger mode, the three-state charge algorithm will increase battery life by properly charging the battery. Especially in the case of vehicles with a smart alternator, controlled charging is indispensable.
The solar charger can charge a lower nominal-voltage battery from a higher nominal voltage PV array. The controller will automatically adjust to the battery voltage and will charge the battery with a current up to its rated current.
The solar charger not only charges the batteries but also supplies power for the system's DC loads, such as lights, refrigerators, inverters, inverter/chargers and more. Battery charging occurs only when the power generated by the PV panels exceeds the power consumed by the system's DC loads.
