The San Diego Police Department provides a variety of ways that you can report crimes that occurred within the City of San Diego, including an easy online reporting system.
The following letter may be used as a model for requesting your own record for review and possible challenge. In general, you request a police report from the law enforcement agency for the city where the incident took place. Find the contact information for the appropriate police department online.

You can request a copy of a report in the following ways: Generate a request through the Public Records Center. Submit a request to the Sheriff’s station or substation that wrote the report or responded to the incident.
