16 Δεκ 2018 · San Gorgonio Peak (also known as “Old Grayback”) is a beautiful and challenging out and back trail in the San Bernardino National Forest. This peak is the tallest in Southern California and offers incredible 360 degree views of the entire surrounding region.
The summit of San Gorgonio (11,499 feet) is 3 miles beyond High Creek. The upper end of this trail offers outstanding views of Yucaipa Ridge and Galena Peak, as well as sweeping panoramic views from the top of Mt. San Gorgonio.
At 11,503 feet, Mount San Gorgonio is the highest peak in Southern California. It is one of three peaks with an altitude higher than 10,000 feet and with at least 500 meters prominence (the other two are Mount San Jacinto and Mount Baldy , from which it is separated by the San Andreas Fault).
