In this article, an update on FDG PET/CT in sarcoidosis is provided. The use of FDG PET/CT in the diagnostic process of sarcoidosis is explained, especially in determining treatable inflammatory lesions in symptomatic patients with indecisive conventional tests.

FDG-PET/CT appears to have limited value in assessing subjects with weight loss as the leading clinical indication, proving to be five times more often detrimental than beneficial.
An advantage of quantitative metrics in CS FDG PET imaging is overcoming errors from differences in normalization with qualitative hot-spot imaging, which can lead to artifactual accentuation of areas of mild myocardial activity.
