13 Ιουν 2018 · Considerable evidence supports a common set of dietary approaches for the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes, but uncertainties remain. Weight management is a cornerstone of metabolic health but diet quality is also important. Low carbohydrate diets as the preferred choice in type 2 diabetes is controversial.
27 Ιαν 2021 · Hyperglycaemia in people with and without diabetes admitted to the hospital is associated with a substantial increase in morbidity, mortality, and health-care costs. Professional societies have recommended insulin therapy as the cornerstone of inpatient pharmacological management.
The detailed study flow is shown in online supplemental figure 1. The mean age of patients with diabetes was 75.4 (±10.2) years, 61% were male and the mean BMI was 26.9 kg/m 2 (± 5.7). The main reasons for hospital admission were infection (28%), cancer (16%) and cardiovascular disease (13%).
The use of point-of-care (POC) blood glucose (BG) testing has been the mainstay for monitoring glycemia and informing treatment of hospitalized patients with diabetes. In hospitalized patients with diabetes, POC blood glucose (BG) testing is commonly performed 3 to 4 times daily to monitor glycemic outcomes and to adjust insulin doses.
