13 Μαΐ 2001 · Verse 13, “I write these things to you, who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life.” God intends His children to have a sure and certain assurance of their salvation.
When we trust in Jesus Christ, our eternal security in Christ becomes a spiritual reality whether we understand it or believe it. Ones belief in security in Christ does not make it true or false. If we have trusted in the person and work of Christ for personal salvation, security is a fact.
21 Αυγ 2022 · There are two basic parts: there’s David’s hardship (verses 1–7) and then God’s care for David (verses 8–13). But the main theme to see here is David’s assurance — which shows up twice, in the first part and the second part. We see this in the refrain of verses 3–4 and then in verses 9–11. And I want you to see this.
The way in which we persevere in faith and thereby maintain assurance of salvation is by taking seriously the glorious promises and the terrible threats found in Scripture (cf. Hebrews 10:19-31; also Deuteronomy 28).
Assurance of salvation affects how we pray; when we’re sure of our condition we don’t hesitate to talk to God. Our status as God’s children grants us boldness in prayer. We’re free to ask for whatever we want, and the closer we get to God, the more in tune we become to His will.
8 Νοε 2022 · The assurance of salvation is the guarantee that once someone has put their faith in Jesus Christ, repented of their sins, and has entered into that relationship with God, that they are sealed with the Holy Spirit and are guaranteed their sins are fully forgiven.
