Teamed with special tang-mounted adjustable sights, such as the Creedmoor, the .45-70 Sharps became a hard-hitting long-range weapon capable of accurately striking targets up to 1,000 yards downrange. That made the 1874 Sharps ideal for hunting buffalo and other large game.

This rifle has a Marble’s tang sight. Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is a two piece smooth walnut. The buttstock is a straight hand, with long lower tang, straight comb with cheek piece, and has a color case hardened checkered metal buttplate.
Among the Sharps 1874 models you can find the Sporting model with octagonal blued barrel, adjustable front sight and double set trigger. The Infantry and Cavalry models have a fixed front sight and round barrel retained by steel bands.
This rifle includes an MVA tang mounted Vernier Style micrometer rear sight with a Long Range 4.5” Staff with 3.5” of adjustment, a “small” eye disc and a fire blued base. Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is a two piece smooth “Fancy” walnut.
The Sharps Long Range model is an improved sharps. It has a 34 inch half octagonal barrel with a walnut checkered pistol grip stock and pewter tip forend. This model is equipped with rear sight and tunnel front sight with interchangeable inserts.
The rear sight is a flip-up ladder sight marked from 2-8 with a small notch low buckhorn sight when the ladder is folded down. Both front and rear sights are dovetailed into the barrel. This rifle also includes a tang mounted Stevens Style Mid Range Peep sight with “Small” eye disc.
