1 Οκτ 2016 · Density is an SI derived unit. It is derived from the SI fundamental unit for mass, the kilogram, and the SI fundamental unit for length, the meter. Density is the mass per unit of volume. The SI derived unit for volume is cubic meters. So the derived SI unit for density is kg m3.
The SI unit of kilogram per cubic metre (kg/m 3) and the cgs unit of gram per cubic centimetre (g/cm 3) are probably the most commonly used units for density. One g/cm 3 is equal to 1000 kg/m 3 . One cubic centimetre (abbreviation cc) is equal to one millilitre.
Density can be defined as the mass of a material per unit volume. We had already learned that the unit of mass is Kilograms (Kg) and unit of vulume is Meter cube (m3). Since the defenition of density is mass per volume, the SI unit for density is kilogram per meter cube (kg/m3).
