The SIG Sauer P290 is a polymer frame subcompact handgun that was produced from 2011 to 2017 by SIG Sauer of Exeter, New Hampshire. It was replaced by the SIG Sauer P365. The P290 is chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum (9mm Luger, 9mm NATO). The slide is stainless steel treated with Nitron, making it appear black.
The SIG P290RS was released in 2012, a double-action only variant of the original P290, produced to meet users' demands for re-strike capabilities. There are four other major redesign points on the P290RS from the original: an added beavertail, rounded slide-lock lever, trimmed down magazine release button and a lengthened lip on the magazine.

29 Μαΐ 2012 · The most noticeable change in the double-action-only P290 RS is a redesigned trigger that now offers restrike (RS) capability. In event of an ammo failure, the operator now has the option to press the trigger a second time, or manually cycle the slide.
23 Ιαν 2013 · I figured I would start a thread for P290 info, tricks, parts and accessories. Anyone who has good info to add for the P290 post it up. There are two versions - the P290 and P290RS. The RS is the redesigned model with "re-strike" capability.
