Anatomy of Muscle Tissue Directions: Use your textbook (Chapter 6) and your notes to answer the following questions on a separate piece of paper. You WILL need colored pencils for some of these questions. 1. Name 3 prefixes that give you a clue that muscle is being referred to. 2. Compare & Contrast as you fill in the chart:
List the 3 layers of connective tissue associated with skeletal muscle in order from deepest to most superficial. A bundle of muscle fibers is a(n): a) endomysium b) fascicle c) muscle organ d) perimysium List the 5 functions of skeletal muscles? 10. Match the following structures of a muscle fiber to its function. Sarcolemma Sarcoplasm Glycogen
Physiology: Skeletal Muscle Worksheet Directions: Write in and circle best answer on this sheet. 1. Define the following terms as they apply to skeletal muscle. Sarcolemma - Sarcoplasm - Myofibril - Sarcoplasmic reticulum - Transverse tubules - 2. Describe a myofibril, then describe the structures of myosin and actin in a myofibril. Myofibril ...
The musculoskeletal system comprises (composed of) bones, joints, cartilage, bursae, tendons, muscles and ligaments. It is the system that moves the body and maintains its form. arthrology (the study of joints), and myology (the study of muscles). The musculoskeletal system does not work in isolation.
Skeletal muscle - Skeletal muscle, attached to bones, is responsible for skeletal movements. The peripheral portion of the central nervous system (CNS) controls the skeletal muscles. Thus, these muscles are under conscious, or voluntary, control. The basic unit is the muscle fibre with many nuclei.
Each skeletal muscle has three layers of connective tissue (called mysia) that enclose it, provide structure to the muscle, and compartmentalize the muscle fibers within the muscle (Figure 10.2.1).
Internal Structure of a Skeletal Muscle. Skeletal muscles are composed of connective tissue and contractile cells. The connective tissues surrounding the entire muscle is the epimysium. Bundles of muscle cells are called fascicles. The connective tissues surrounding the fascicles is called perimysium. Page 6. Internal Structure of a Fascicle.
