You will obtain the Saarthal Amulet and become trapped inside the room. Tolfdir will rush up to ask what happened, so explain to him your current situation. Tell Tolfdir about the amulet, and he will suggest using it to see if it can help you escape.
Just wander around and pick up the 3 rings and 1 amulet to complete the quest. When you pick up the amulet, bars in the alcove will slam down, trapping you inside.
