An FVC maneuver or a slow vital capacity (SVC) maneuver can be used in order to determine VC. When an FVC maneuver is performed, there is higher dynamic compression and airway collapse, reducing the ability to mobilize the volume of air during exhalation and therefore causing air trapping.
