In June 2023, our existing customer portal, called Benefit Programs Online (BPO), will be replaced with myEDD, a simpler way to access our programs and services. Customers will log into myEDD.edd.ca.gov with their existing BPO credentials.
In June, we launched myEDD, a more secure, user-friendly, online access to unemployment, disability, and Paid Family Leave benefit services. The new myEDD replaces the previous Benefit Programs Online and is informed and influenced by customer and stakeholder input.
Within UI Online, customers can certify for benefits, check payment information, reopen an existing claim, update contact information, reschedule an eligibility phone interview, and send secure messages to unemployment customer service agents.
PEUC will provide a temporary extension of state unemployment benefits for up to 13 additional weeks. Normally, California unemployment insurance benefits provide up to 26 weeks of payments. The CARES Act PEUC extends the benefits for a total of 39 weeks of payments.
When to File. You may apply for benefits as soon as you are unemployed or your hours are reduced. Your claim will be filed the Sunday of the week you file. All claims have a one-week, unpaid waiting period. The waiting period does not begin until the claim is filed. What You need to File.
